Brief Description
Do you want to create the production systems of the future? We are looking for an ambitious PhD candidate for a position at Chalmers` Division of Production Systems. The PhD project focuses on development of production systems where people interact and collaborate with different kinds of automation.
The division of production systems focuses on three areas: Sustainable Production, Virtual Production, and Production Ergonomics. We are 18 persons, including researchers, teachers, and PhD students.
Our research and education is applied in several industrial sectors, e.g. automotive, food, process, and aerospace. A good balance between humans and technology is a core factor in our work.
The PhD project is part of Chalmers` Area of Advance Production and The Sustainable Production Initiative.
Job description
As PhD student you are part of a research team working with applied research in the area of Advanced Production Systems. Your focus will be on the interaction between humans and automation, especially from the perspectives of different levels of automation. You will be based at Chalmers University of Technology but also work closely with research institutes, industry, and other universities. You will establish methods and create technology to handle information flow, levels of automation, and complex work situations. You will work with support tools, models, and standards to enable efficient cognitive automation in production operator and maintenance situations.
In addition, you will participate in courses within the graduate school ProViking (http://www.chalmers.se/ppd/provikingforskarskola-sv). Also, the PhD position includes teaching responsibilities up 20% of the time, mainly as classroom teaching, project supervision, and lab-work supervision.
