Postdoc position Global Software Engineering at VU University Amsterdam, Netherlands

Brief Description

VU University Amsterdam is one of the leading institutions for higher education in Europe. It is part of international science networks and collaborates with many major universities throughout the world. The Faculty of Sciences consists of four departments; Physics and Astronomy, Informatics, Mathematics and Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences with 600 employees including researchers, lecturers, full- and part-time professors. The faculty offers 10 bachelor and 12 master courses and has over 1600 students.

The candidate will be a member of the Software Engineering group, which has a long-standing tradition in software engineering research, covering areas such as software architecture, software process improvement, global software- and service engineering, and service oriented architecture. Research projects are always done in cooperation with external parties; the research questions are driven by practical problems. The candidate is expected to perform research in multi site coordination.

Tasks

We want to strengthen our group with expertise in global software engineering. We have research projects related to global software engineering on the following topics:

• knowledge management in multi site development;
• temantic wikis as collaboration and coordination tools;
• gile service networks as a social networking paradigm for multi site development;
• software- and service oriented development in global settings.

Requirements

• PhD in a relevant area of computer science, preferably followed by a period of relevantpostdoctoral research;
• roven track record in global software engineering research as sketched above;
• expertise empirical software engineering (for instance, research methodology for software engineering, data analysis techniques, or evidence-based software engineering).

• emuneration of 8,3% end-of-year bonus and 8% holiday allowance;
• minimum of 29 holidays in case of full-time employment;

Salary

The salary will be in accordance with university regulations for academic personnel, and depending on experience, range from a minimum of EUR 3.195,- gross per month up to a maximum of EUR 4.374,-gross per month (salary scale 11) based on a fulltime employment.
